About me
Emma Fischer (she/her) is a fourth year student at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Wyncote, PA. Originally from Nashville, TN, Emma earned a Bachelor’s degree in Religion and Social Justice at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA, where she wrote her undergraduate thesis on the apocryphal Book of Judith. Prior to rabbinical school, Emma worked as a Preschool Teacher at her childhood synagogue, before moving to New Orleans, LA to participate in Avodah’s Jewish Service Corps, where she spent a year providing direct services to individuals returning home after incarceration. During Rabbinical school, Emma has had an array of opportunities to work and learn in and around Philadelphia, including at Germantown Jewish Centre, Temple B’nai Abraham in Bordentown, NJ, the Kasierman Jewish Community Center, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and most recently, Hillel at Drexel University. Emma finds joy in community, in loud laughter, shared meals, and good-natured jokes. In her free time, she can be found crocheting, baking new recipes, and going for walks with friends in West Philly.
