SUMMARY:Choose Your Own Civilizational Adventure: Faculty Text Study
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a choose your own civilizational adventure text study with our RRC Faculty. &nbsp\;Below you'll find the descriptions of each text study you can pick from:\n\nDr. Amanda Mbuvi: Multifaith studies\nInterfaith dialogue in Things Fall Apart \nWe’ll look at an excerpt from Chinua Achebe’s novel Things Fall Apart that complicates the distinction between monotheism and polytheism\, reflecting on what it illustrates about the significance of context in interfaith encounter and examining our own approaches to such conversations.\n\nRabbi Mira Wasserman: Rabbinic\nImagining Resistance in Ancient Judaism\n\nRabbi Bill Plevan: Modern\nGuilt and Responsibility in Heschel and Arendt\nWhen governments\, nations\, and societies are responsible for injustice\, oppression\, or crimes against humanity\, how do we distinguish between the guilt of direct actors and the broader responsibility of those in the society? Are guilt and responsibility the only terms we need to address such issues?\nWe will look at reflections from Abraham Joshua Heschel and Hannah Arendt\, two Jewish thinkers of European descent who were able to emigrate to the United States during World War II\, and whose experience of the war deeply shaped their views.\n\n\n\n\n
